The Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board was one of twelve organizations throughout Ontario selected to receive a Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council Award. This award was presented to representatives of the Real Estate Board at the awards ceremony in Toronto on November 8, 2001.
Windsor Fire & Rescue Services appointed the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board because of their commitment to the Risk Watch Program*. The Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board donated $6,000 from their Annual Golf Tournament in 2000. This donation enabled us to purchase and provide twelve Windsor schools with the Risk Watch curriculum. In addition to the Board’s donation three individual realtors each donated $500, which covers the cost to implement the Risk Watch program in a school.
Some of the funds raised from this year’s golf tournament will be presented at the next general meeting of the Board. Several more schools will then be provided with Risk Watch.
* The Risk Watch Program was developed by NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and is the first comprehensive injury prevention program designed for use in the classroom. Risk Watch gives children and their families the skills and knowledge they need to create safer homes and communities. For more information check out the NFPA’s Risk Watch web site at www.nfpa.org/riskwatch
Windsor Fire & Rescue Services has developed partnerships throughout the community to assist in getting the public educated in fire and injury prevention.
