FIREFEST 2009

FIREFEST Extinguished For Another Year

FIREFEST 2009 saw record crowds enjoy a number of unique events on Friday and Saturday at Windsor’s Riverfront Festival Plaza. 20 local teams stumbled and fumbled through the Corporate Combat Relays on Friday night.

Over 100 firefighters from across USA and Canada – including Windsor, Tecumseh, Lakeshore and Kingsville signed up for the FIREFIT Championships - Regional Challenge. Local firefighters performed well in sweltering heat during “The Toughest 2 Minutes in Sports !” One of the best in the world travelled a long way to Windsor and smoked the course – setting a NEW record in the Individual Male Category.

The hottest event of the year raised over $12,000 this year for Transition To Betterness and The Windsor Firefighters Benefit. This is the 8th year for this one of a kind event which has raised over $50,000 for local charities.
