Windsor Fire & Rescue Services - Professional Mechanics - Trained, Talented and Prepared

Windsor Fire & Rescue Services is fortunate to have an extremely capable and well-prepared team on staff to service and maintain their firefighting and emergency services apparatus and equipment. Our Maintenance and Repair team possesses a well-rounded background with years of training and experience in their field. In additon to maintaining the WF&RS apparatus and equipment, they offer their considerable capabilities to our neighbouring fire departments.

Roger Zanettin – Director of Emergency Equipment & Apparatus

  • Emergency Equipment Technician 18 years
  • Licensed Truck and Coach Technician 310T
  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician 310S
  • Certified Draeger SCBA Repair & Testing
  • Certified MSA, SCBA, MMR & BMR Repairs & Testing
  • Certified Interspiro SCBA Repair & Testing
  • Certified Akron Nozzle & Valve Repair
  • Certified Ground Ladder Inspection & Testing
  • Certified in Bauer Breathing Air Compressor Maintenance & Overhaul
  • Level 2 Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified, and carries inter-provincial on 310S
  • Certified in TFT Nozzle repair
  • Experience:  Roger has 30 years in the mechanical trade, 25 years of which is in heavy truck and coach repair, with 19 years on the Fire Department.  He is certified in the maintenance and repair of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicles.  He also carries many certifications in Allison Transmission and Detroit Diesel engines, along with many electronic and hydraulic courses taken at St. Clair College.  He has also attended many seminars and courses in Respiratory Fit Testing, Respiratory Protection and Breathing Air.  Roger also completed a University of Windsor course in Supervisory Management and Training.
  • Hobbies:  Judo instructor; hunting and fishing.

Gerry DeLaronde – Lead Hand Emergency Equipment Technician 15 years

  • Experience:  Gerry carries 32 years of heavy truck experience, 15 of which is on fire truck and related equipment.  He has seven years experience managing a truck repair facility before entering the fire service.  Gerry carries many certifications in Allison transmissions and Detroit Diesel.  He has also been certified in the maintenance of the Hurst Jaws of Life equipment.
  • Hobbies:  Building hot rods.

John Jewell – Emergency Equipment Technician 8 years

  • Experience: 20 years in heavy truck, including the rebuilding of diesel engines, heavy-duty and light-duty automatic & manual transmission.  John has carried an Ozone depletion licence for five years and carried a high-pressure pipe welders certificate for two years.  John also carries and maintains an AZ driver’s license.

  • Experience:  20 years in mechanical trade with ten years being heavy truck, specializing in vehicle electronics.  Brent has taken many courses at St. Clair College to improve his skills.  He is a Certified Drive Clean Inspector and certified in Drive Clean repair.  Brent was a Chevron Texaco Technician of the Month in January 2005.  He is also certified in the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Vehicle Performance and Agent Testing.
  • Hobbies:  Shooting; sports. 

Roger Anderson – Emergency Equipment Technician 5 years

  • Master Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified, and carries inter-provincial on 310S
  • Chevron Technician of the Month for April 2006
  • Experience:  Roger is the first EET to receive Master EVT status in the division.  He has certification in medium-duty and heavy-duty Allison transmission overhaul, also certification in 2000 and 3000 series.  He is certified in Hale fire pumps.  Roger carries 20 years of heavy truck and equipment experience.
  • Hobbies:  Minor hockey; repairing farm equipment.
