Recent reviews of fire safety in high/low rise buildings have identified the need for the development of a program that assists building owners and property managers with understanding and meeting their responsibilities with respect to the Fire Code and fire and life safety in the properties under their care.
Windsor Fire and Rescue Services is offering a program designed to address the above for property managers, building owners and others responsible for fire safety within high/low rise buildings and will be hosting a number of seminars, the first of which are as follows.
All of the seminars are scheduled from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with the first seminar to take place on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at The Safety Village, located at 7911 Forest Glade Drive in Windsor – with additional dates scheduled as follows:
- Thursday, July 19, 2018
- Thursday, August 23, 2018
- Thursday, September 13, 2018
The presentations will include information on why Ontario Fire Code awareness and emergency response training is mandated and required by the Ontario Fire Code for owners and designated supervisory staff and why it is strongly encouraged for tenants.

- Fire separations and closures
- standpipes & sprinkler systems
- fire alarm systems
- fire safety plans
- fire department and firefighter’s access
- interior finishes
- emergency lighting
- fire extinguishers
- emergency procedures
- smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- how to prepare for an inspection
- fire safety for residents
