Emergency Preparedness Week takes place from May 5th to 11th this year. The theme for the week throughout Ontario is “Spotlight on Seniors.”
This year’s focus is ensuring seniors and older adults are getting the message on being prepared. Many seniors have the ability and experience to help themselves and others during an emergency, however aging brings physical challenges—and sometimes social isolation—that can make seniors more vulnerable during emergencies.
“Much of the information being shared this year is valuable to everybody in our community,” says Windsor Fire Chief Bruce Montone. “But, we applaud Emergency Management Ontario for focusing this year’s campaign on a vulnerable and growing segment of our population.”
