McCallum Grade 5’s are Prepared for Emergencies
Windsor Fire and Rescue Services is pleased to announce that the grade 5 class at McCallum School is the winner of this year’s emergency preparedness challenge and pizza party.
Students in grade 5 attending the emergency preparedness class at the Children’s Safety Village were challenged to obtain the highest score in a game of Jeopardy in order to win a pizza party for their class. Students were motivated to learn about emergency preparedness in order to gain knowledge to achieve the highest score.
Grade 5 students learn about the risks where we live and what they can do to prepare for an emergency whether they are asked to evacuate, shelter in place or are travelling in a car. This knowledge is taken home to parents to encourage families to make a plan and prepare for emergencies.
The pizza party will take place Monday, June 27, 2011 at 12:25 p.m. at McCallum School, 4195 Milloy. A formal presentation will take place following the pizza party at approximately 12:45 p.m. Media are invited to attend.
The pizza for the party has been generously donated by Naples Pizza, 1794 Westcott Road, Windsor.
