“Wake Up, Get a Working Smoke Alarm” Returns for Next Round of Residential Visits
To combat widespread non-compliance with smoke alarm regulations in Windsor, the Wake Up, Get a Working Smoke Alarm program hit the streets in May of this year. Windsor Fire and Rescue staff visited 4,553 homes over a six-week period, educating residents and installing 1,426 smoke alarms.
Following the success of the spring campaign, Windsor Fire is now proceeding with the next scheduled round of visits, beginning on Tuesday, September 10 and continuing for six weeks. The full cycle of “Wake Up” home visits will be conducted over a five-year period.
Residents and media can find out where Windsor Fire will be visiting each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during the fall campaign via Twitter, @WindsorFire1. Media are welcome to join Windsor Fire throughout the program for ongoing updates.
