    Affected products

    Yamaha EF2000iS Portable Generator

     

    Product description

    This recall involves the Yamaha EF2000iS portable generator. The recalled generator is blue in colour and has a small suitcase type housing with a top carry handle. The affected product can be identified by the model number, EF20iSX, and a serial number ranging from 7PB-0214343 through 7PB-0215853.

     

    Repair has been completed only if a black dot appears on the cover, rear end, as illustrated.

     

    Hazard identified

    The fuel tank material where the fuel petcock is installed may be brittle and can cause cracks in the tank, resulting in fuel leakage, posing a fire hazard.

    As of December 9th, 2019, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

     

    Number sold

    Approximately 1500 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

     

    Time period sold

    The affected products were sold from July 2018 to October 2019.

     

    What you should do

    Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled generator and contact an authorized Yamaha generator dealer to schedule a free repair.

    For more information, consumers may contact Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. by telephone at 416-498-1911 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, by email or online.

    Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
