Emergency Management supports the City’s ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies affecting the Corporation and the community. This includes the development and maintenance of emergency plans, procedures, and response protocols; coordination with internal City departments, emergency services, government agencies, and community partners; and delivery of emergency management training, exercises, and public preparedness initiatives.
The function also supports the City’s compliance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and associated provincial requirements, including the maintenance of required emergency management programs, plans, training, and exercises. Emergency Management provides ongoing coordination and readiness to help ensure the City can effectively manage significant or complex incidents and maintain essential services during emergencies.
