Project Zero - Windsor Fire & Rescue Services

Thanks to a generous donation from Enbridge Gas Ontario, and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, Windsor Fire & Rescue Services was provided with combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through Safe Community Project Zero, a public education campaign that provided more than 14,200 alarms to residents in 75 communities across Ontario.

These battery operated alarms are to be distributed through the City of Windsor, in residences where they would provide fire code compliance.

It is the owner’s/landlord’s responsibility to ensure fire code compliance. Property Owners are required to ensure that there are working smoke alarms and CO alarms on every level of the residence.

Thank you for your interest, however the donation was only battery operated alarms.

Fire code requires that they are replaced with the same equipment, so the alarms provided by this program are not compatible.

Hardwired alarms still require replacement every 10 years, and batteries need to be replaced at minimum once a year. Please refer to the information on the back of the alarm for specifics – or consult the manufacturer’s instructions.
